Georgia Tax, Title & License Calculator
For most Georgia purchases, TTL combines one-time TAVT (generally 7%), the $18 title fee, and supported registration charges such as $20 for a new regular passenger plate. It is not an out-the-door price.

Georgia tax, title, license
Georgia TTL is the vehicle tax and title/tag subtotal—not the vehicle price
For a supported Georgia purchase, TTL means the estimated TAVT plus the $18 title fee and the selected passenger registration/plate charges. A qualifying trade or new-car rebate can change TAVT; a BEV or selected PHEV AFV plate can add separate annual charges.
TTL excludes the vehicle’s selling price, dealer-controlled charges, and optional products unless an amount is specifically shown in the estimate. It is not an out-the-door price. For OTD, add the negotiated price and seller charges with the Georgia OTD calculator.
Engine-backed new-vehicle TTL example
The engine starts with $30,000 retail price, subtracts a $5,000 qualifying dealer trade and $1,000 new-vehicle discount, and applies 7% TAVT to $24,000. A higher manual value does not change this dealer-sale basis.
- Taxable TAVT value
- $24,000.00
- TAVT at 7%
- $1,680.00
- Georgia title application fee
- $18.00
- New regular passenger registration
- $20.00
- Estimated Georgia TTL
- $1,718.00
Location, plate path, and special cases
The TAVT rate is statewide for this supported path, but county tag offices process title and registration and can require additional documentation. Plate transfer means an eligible existing Georgia plate of the same class; it does not mean a new plate at the $20 amount. Family transfers, gifts, leases, and some exemptions need separate treatment and are not inferred here.
Common TTL mistakes
- Calling the TAVT/title/registration subtotal the out-the-door price.
- Adding both the $20 new-plate fee and the $5 transfer fee for one plate path.
- Forgetting that BEV/PHEV AFV charges can be separate recurring costs.

Georgia TTL questions
Frequently asked questions
What does TTL mean when buying a car in Georgia?
It is shorthand for tax, title, and license: here, estimated TAVT, title, and supported registration or plate charges.
Does the Georgia TTL total include the car price?
No. The displayed TTL is the tax-and-fee subtotal. Add the negotiated vehicle price and dealer charges to estimate OTD.
What title fee does Georgia charge?
The standard title application fee for the supported path is $18.
Is Georgia registration $20 or $5?
A new regular passenger plate/registration is $20. An eligible transfer of a valid existing Georgia plate of the same class is $5.
Does the TTL calculator include EV fees?
It can include the current 2026–27 AFV fee and selected AFV plate charges when you choose the supported BEV or PHEV path.
Does TTL include a dealer’s documentation fee?
Dealer-controlled charges are not part of the ordinary government-fee subtotal shown here. Some dealer fees can affect TAVT value; check the out-the-door estimator and buyer’s order.
